Eid al-Fitr is a time for friends, family and relatives to come together to rejoice and share happiness. This Eid Qatar has a plethora of activities to offer which are ongoing across different locations in the country.

At Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah, one of the most favorite outdoor spots of Qatar’s residents and citizens, a five-day Eid-al-Fitr festival has kicked-off.

Organized by the Private Engineering Office, the festival has attracted large crowds including nationals and expats. A host of entertainment programs are available for visitors at special rates and in ideal conditions.

Mohamed al-Salem, Souq Waqif manager said such events are organized every year to bring happiness and joy to everyone, especially as the venue is one of the most popular destinations in Qatar.

He said the celebrations of Eid al-Fitr, which started on Wednesday, are held inside a large air-conditioned tent in Al Ahmad square. The events include games, programs and a variety of plays for children.

The events are held inside the tent due to the weather conditions, Al Salem said.

As part of the Eid festival, Souq Waqif Centre for Arts has organized special activities and workshops for children.

Souq Al Wakrah also saw a huge turnout of families since the early hours of the celebrations in the air-conditioned tent set up by the management.

Khalid Saif Al Suwaidi, the Souq’s manager told QNA that the venue witnessed a large number of visitors on the first day of Eid celebrations.

According to Al Suwaidi, the tent offers more than 40 individual skills and games on the waterfront, in addition to several artistic performances, acrobatics shows and more, every day from 4pm to 10pm.

He added that the fireworks display attracted thousands of visitors on the first day.

Al Suwaidi said the festival at Souq Al Wakrah has become very popular because of the beautiful scenes it creates on the waterfront.

Souq Al Wakra is all set to receive visitors in large numbers over the period of the festival. All facilities, including electric cars for smooth navigation, restaurants and cafes, will be available for festivalgoers, Al Suwaidi mentioned.

Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah are characterized by their traditional architectural design, which preserves the peculiarities of traditional Qatari culture, whether in shops, on streets, pavements and walls.
