The LavAzza Golf Open teed off the start of the golf season at Education City Golf Club on September 13, 2019.

The tournament was the first event in a monthly series that will conclude after 8 tournaments finishing in April 2020.

The tournament took place over the 18 Hole Championship course at Education City Golf Club. A hospitable welcome at the start of the morning with a professional barista serving up fresh morning coffee and snacks by Il Café de Roma. The cozy and relaxing café by Lavazza provided the players with the best Italian tradition and quintessential experience found in its outlets at City Centre, Lagoona mall, Tawar mall, Hotel park and soon to be in prestigious Sidra hospital.

The tournament is expected to become a popular addition to the event calendar particularly with the delightful hospitality of Il Caffé di Roma and Lavazza each month.” said, Michael Braidwood, General Manager, Education City Golf Club.

Winning the tournament by 6 points was Gerard McLaughlin taking home his very own personal LavAzza Coffee machine. Falling short in second place was Andrew Ikstrums closing out the day with 32 points.

The notable winner of the day taking third position and the prestige of the LavAzza Lady Golfer was Patricia Yurkiw with 32 points.

Lavazza Qatar’s General Manager, Salvatore Caputo said “We have been very enthusiastic for the LavAzza Open - Round 1 at ECGC. The tournament has created a great feeling between all registered players. We welcome all passionate golfers to join us at the forthcoming event in October.”

The tournament was the first in a busy schedule of major golf tournaments expected for the season ahead at Education City Golf Club with the next LavAzza Open scheduled for October.
