The seventh edition of the Mahaseel Festival, which promotes the sale of agricultural products grown and picked from Qatari farms, will kick off at the southern area of the Katara Cultural Village Foundation on Thursday (January 19).

The 10-day event, which will continue until January 28, will be held between 9am and 9pm. Following the exhibition’s end, the Mahaseel markets will continue every week on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Over the years, the festival, organised by Mahaseel for Marketing and Agricultural services company (a subsidiary of Hassad Food), has been a huge hit. Encouraging local agricultural production, it offers high-quality agricultural crops and food products.

Mahaseel succeeded in marketing almost 60 million kilograms of local produce in the Qatari market over the past three years.

“Mahaseel received around 50,000 supplies over the past three years, and received approximately 5.5 million kgs of local produce per month, during peak times. The company receives vegetables of different grades, following the technical specifications approved by the Ministry of Municipality, and published on the company's website,” said a statement from the company.

Mahaseel, which means ‘harvest’ in Arabic, provides its marketing services to more than 400 local farms. It markets the fresh produce through 100 Mahaseel outlets around the country.

Last year, the sixth edition of the Mahaseel Festival had featured 39 companies including 25 local farms, seven poultry, meat, and dairy producers, and seven nurseries.
