Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has called upon healthy, eligible citizens and residents of Qatar to donate blood and make a difference to someone’s life this Ramadan.

"It’s more important than ever to ensure we have sufficient blood supplies. You can make a difference by becoming a blood donor by visiting one our dedicated Blood Donor Centers," HMC stressed in a tweet yesterday.

Blood donation can be one of the best ways of helping those in need. If you want to donate blood, you can head out to one of the Qatar Blood Services sites, managed by HMC. Qatar Blood Services rely completely on local blood supplies, donated by voluntary blood donors, and ensure the provision of blood to the entire country, including all government and private health facilities.

During Ramadan, HMC is operating four blood donor sites including the Blood Donor Center next to Hamad General Hospital (HGH), the New Blood Donor Center opposite Outpatient Department next to the Surgical Specialty Center, and two mobile units in Souq Waqif and Msherieb.

Timings for these blood donation sites are as follows:

Blood Donor Center next to HGH: 8 am to 1 pm and from 6 pm until midnight, Saturday to Thursday. It is closed on Fridays.

The New Blood Donor Center:  6 pm until midnight, Saturday to Thursday. It is closed on Fridays.

Mobile units: 8 pm until midnight, Sunday to Saturday (including Friday).
