The 12th edition of Milipol Qatar — the country’s prestigious homeland security and civil defence exhibition — will kick off at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre on October 29.

The three-day exhibition, which is being held under the patronage of HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will highlight the important role played by civil defence in protecting Qatar’s population and ensuring public safety, reported Gulf Times.

As a result, this year’s Milipol will also feature a Civil Defence Exhibition and Conference, organisers said.

“This is in line with Milipol’s constant evolution to provide unmatched experiences for exhibitors, visitors, buyers and industry professionals and provide the link between defence specialists and key decision makers,” a statement said.

The collaboration of the two shows will make the exhibition a one-of-its-kind event anywhere in the region.

It is also expected to bring key global players together for a series of conference sessions and agenda-setting panel discussions about the latest and emerging civil defence trends and best practices, reported The Peninsula.

The importance of civil defence mechanisms has continued to grow in modern day society, with them being the first line of defence during emergencies and disasters as well as a full gamut of related issues.

They also play key roles in crisis management, emergency management, emergency preparedness, contingency planning, civil contingency, civil aid and civil protection.

Milipol Qatar is organised by the Ministry of Interior (MOI) and French-based Comexposium Security.

Milipol Qatar 2018 is a trade-only event, open exclusively to defence and security industry specialists and professionals. The exhibition will be open from 9.30am to 5pm on October 29 and 30, and from 9.30am to 4pm on October 31.
