His Excellency Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem al-Ghanem yesterday honored the winners of the leading five places of the Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Holy Qur’an competition.

The five winners were chosen from among three different categories and the total prize value awarded to the winners of the entire Holy Qur’an branch was QAR 1.2 million. Across three main categories, the first five winners received significant valuable financial rewards.

Awqaf Qatar released a video on Twitter about the ceremony and short interviews with a few of the winners.

Post-pandemic, the still ongoing competition has garnered more support than before with nearly 1,400 participants competing in it, according to the Chairman of the competition’s Organizing Committee, Sheikh Nasser Yousef al-Sulaiti. The Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Holy Qur’an competition conducts contests across multiple categories and various sections.

This year also had the ‘new converts’ branch that invited competitors from various communities within the country. The distinguished competitors from this category were also honored in the ceremony. The competition began last Sunday and is expected to continue until the next Thursday.
