Easy availability of quality education for children has always been one of the key concerns of parents living in Qatar.
With the country experiencing a population boom, seats for students at schools had become more difficult than ever before.
In order to remedy that, Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education has signed contracts to lease government land for the construction and operation of six private schools in the country, according to Gulf Times.

The contracts were signed with six national companies that won the tenders that had been offered by the Technical Committee to Stimulate Private Sector Participation in Economic Development Projects in the country.
The six schools to be established under the contracts cover all grades from KG to 12th. While five of the schools will follow British curriculum, the sixth will have Indian curriculum, reported Qatar Tribune.
“The project will provide 8,000 more seats for students and will help meet the growing demand for school seats given the growing population in Qatar,” Tarek Al Abdullah, Advisor to the Minister of Education and Higher Education for Private Schools Affairs, said.

Population density was taken into consideration while allocating and distributing schools in various regions of the country to achieve balanced development. The project is set to be completed in two years.
Mohamed Melfi Al Hajri, Director of Joint Services Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, said the ministry would continue its efforts to advance private education in the country through implementation of the Ministry's plan for 2017 to 2022.
Private education sector in Qatar comprises 281 private schools and kindergartens teaching 25 different curricula, catering to 190,644 students from different nationalities. These schools employ 11,269 teachers from various nationalities with investors from different parts of the world.
