The relevant authorities in Qatar are doing everything within their capacity to protect the health of the population.

In line with Qatar’s efforts to beat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Ministry of Interior (MOI) has mobilized all its capabilities to protect the community from the infectious disease.

The different departments under MOI continue to make sure the public follow the recommended safety guidelines and implement the decisions taken by competent authorities.

The departments also support various community awareness campaigns in this regard.

“We are facing an exceptional scenario. There should not be any kind of negligence. We have to stand firm to prevent the spread of the virus by adopting preventive measures,” said Lt Col Nayef bin Faleh Al Thani, director of Al-Fazaa.

He confirmed that the police have fully activated their capabilities and are well trained to deal with the circumstances related to the pandemic.

To support safety measures in the country, MOI has increased the number of patrols.

The patrols work diligently to protect and fully secure all quarantine sites the Ministry of Public Health has identified.

Al Fazaa also closely monitors the closed parts of the Industrial Area and other areas across the country to ensure compliance with the State’s measures.

The patrols ensure there is no gathering at public places and majlis. In addition to this, they also keep a close eye on shops to see they are closed as per the directions.

In a bid to protect the community against the risk of COVID-19, Al Fazaa has also set up checkpoints across Qatar.

"Efforts to secure street and road traffic, advice and guidance to vehicle drivers have been consolidated through the official-specified follow-up and inspection points," said Lt Col Jabr Ali al-Kubaisi, assistant director of Patrol and Traffic Investigation Department of the General Directorate of Traffic.

"These are with the purpose of educating road users to stay in their homes to maintain their safety and support Qatar’s efforts in confronting this global pandemic," he added.

Meanwhile, health authorities in the country continue to implement the highest level of monitoring, detection, and management procedures to deal with the virus, the public has been advised to follow certain measures to safeguard their health.

Qatar's efforts to tackle the disease have also drawn praise from a number of United Nations' representatives recently.
