Qatar has been doing a lot in recent times to make working conditions for labourers and other workers better than ever before.

Even then, one section of the workforce that had not been included were domestic workers. However, a new measure by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) addresses this issue.

MADLSA is understood to have created a new form for the employment contract of domestic helpers and those in the same category, reported Gulf Times.

The new form is expected to enable the employer to fill necessary information on the contract electronically, and simultaneously send it to the MADLSA’s Recruitment Department for signature, approval and authentication by the concerned department.

The articles of the new contract form are compliant with the stipulations of Law No.14 for 2017 regarding domestic helpers, which was issued to protect the rights both the employers and employees based on a labour contract that specified the designated work and the wages or salaries to be paid by the employer.

The new service aims to ease and expedite such transactions, as the new contract would be officially issued by MADLSA in a very short time, and includes three approved copies in both Arabic and English.

Each party to the contract has the right to keep an original copy while the third will be held by the department concerned at MADLSA.

The source further pointed out that each domestic helper has the right to an employment contract, and can submit any related complaint at the MADLSA based on this contract.

The contract form includes all the vital details stressing the rights of both parties and the essential duties and powers of both, in addition to their information and the nature and duration of work, besides the designated salary or wages.

The contract is valid after being approved and authenticated by the department concerned at the MADLSA.
