The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has called on employers to monitor weather and wind conditions and implement necessary procedures to ensure worker safety at building sites as part of its ongoing efforts to protect workers.
"At work sites, all employers are obligated to observe safety regulations. The Ministry tweeted that the use of equipment to assess wind speed and stop crane operation when wind speed exceeds legal limit should be taken into consideration. Inspectors from the Ministry of the Interior will visit the sites to ensure that safety procedures are in place.
According to a study released recently by the Ministry of Labour in Qatar, supporting workers' rights is one of the ministry's core competencies in achieving equal opportunities and establishing work norms with dignity for a sustainable future and progressive country.
In line with Qatar's ambitious strategy to promote successful work and the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 in light of respect for human rights, the Ministry is encouraging a safe and healthy work environment through continual service upgrades.
In accordance with the annual strategy of labor inspection services, the Ministry of Labor is implementing the national action plan on heat stress. The ban on working in open spaces during the summer is enforced by public awareness and inspection efforts.
Preventive measures resulted to a significant decrease in the number of people suffering from dehydration and heat stress diseases in 2021 compared to 2019 and 2020.
To achieve comprehensive development in Qatar and to limit human deaths and material losses caused by work-related accidents and injuries, the Ministry has worked tirelessly to care for workers and protect them from work injuries.

The wind speed is forecast to be between 22 and 23 knots, with gusts up to 40 knots in some areas.
