There is some good news for students of public schools in the country.

The School Management Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has issued a circular to amend school hours and reduce them for students of all stages in public schools, reported Gulf Times.

According to the decision, which will be sent by the administration to directors of public schools in Qatar, students will attend school from 7am to 12:05pm each day, reported The Peninsula.

The circular said the decision was taken for creating appropriate atmosphere for the students to prepare for the upcoming examinations, according to Qatar Tribune.

However, the Ministry has allowed private schools in Qatar to decide the timing as curricula in these schools are different from independent schools.

“Private schools have more than 23 curricula and they all have different requirement when it comes to number of hours or days, so the ministry has left the freedom to choose with private schools,” Hamad Al Ghali, Director of Private Schools Licensing at the Ministry, told The Peninsula.

Some private schools have decided to follow the Ministry directive and have sent letters to parents notifying them about the reduction in school hours.
