The Ministry of Social Development and Family is preparing to celebrate "Family Day in Qatar", which falls on April, 15 of each year, in order to emphasize the importance of the family and its pivotal active role in the process of development and construction.

This year's celebration comes under the slogan "Qatar is strong with the cohesion of its families", in a context where the Ministry of Social Development and Family is carrying out its responsibilities towards social and family development as a specialized ministry.

HE Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad remarked in a statement on the occasion that Qatar has always been a pioneer in establishing a day to honor the family, which is the backbone of society and its stable nucleus.

Her Excellency emphasized that the wise leadership's interest in the family stems from their belief in the family's centrality in national development, adding that the advancement of the family is the advancement of society, and that this is achieved through concerted efforts to support and care for it, as well as to protect its security, stability, and cohesion, by investing in well-studied events and programs that would contribute to achieving the highest degree of stability and family cohesion.

Her Excellency stated that the ministry is currently working on developing innovative strategies and interactive methodologies aimed at families and their members, including tools for collecting and analyzing relevant data and statistics and using them to implement government programs, plans, and policies aimed at promoting societal growth through the importance of family stability and the humanitarian and human rights outcomes that come with it.

Her Excellency emphasized that social development is a key component of Qatar's National Vision 2030, which showcases the country's wise leadership's desire to create an effective system of social protection for all Qataris, one that protects their rights, values their active participation in the national development process, and dedicates their complementary roles in this process, all of which are based on the importance of family.

With the start of the blessed month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Social Development and Family launched "Yalla Namshi," a multi-faceted innovative initiative aimed at reviving and sustaining a societal sports custom that Qataris have always practiced and associated with the holy month of Ramadan, represented in the sport of walking before breakfast time in public parks and malls, through the ministry's social media accounts.

This initiative depends on artificial intelligence to provide it with the scientific calculation that stimulates competition by setting a time limit for walking that brings together members of the same family (mother, father, wife, sons, grandfather, and grandmother) in commercial complexes on the basis of achieving at least 10,000 collective steps per day and receiving generous prizes allocated by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, while taking co-operative measures.

As part of Ooredoo Qatar's participation in this initiative, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Thani, the company's CEO, stated, "Ooredoo is proud to participate with the Ministry of Social Development and Family in this initiative because practicing walking at the family level strengthens family relationships and contributes to the cohesion of its members, in addition to maintaining health and activity, especially during the holy month."
