The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has officially approved the academic calendar for schools in Qatar for the years 2025–2026, 2026–2027, and 2027–2028.
This decision follows a thorough evaluation of key educational and societal factors, including proposals from the Shura Council aimed at aligning public and private school holidays. One key update is the scheduling of the mid-year break in late December, promoting uniformity across schools and aiding families in planning.
The calendar was carefully designed to reflect educational, cultural, and national priorities, in line with the Ministry’s vision for a flexible and inclusive education system. Recognising the significance of Ramadan, the calendar includes two additional days off for students and staff during the holy month in the 2025–2026 and 2027–2028 school years.
To support student well-being, the calendar introduces an extended weekend after the second-semester midterm exams and implements a "Test Day - Rest Day" system for high school second-semester exams, allowing students time to rest and prepare effectively between assessments.
Final exams for the first semester will now take place before Qatar National Day, enabling students to fully engage in national celebrations and cultural activities. The calendar also ensures that second-semester midterm exams do not coincide with Ramadan, allowing students to focus on worship and community participation.
MoEHE emphasized that the new calendar maintains academic balance between semesters while fulfilling curriculum requirements within the allocated school days. It reflects the Ministry’s commitment to advancing educational policies that benefit students, educators, and families, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030’s emphasis on human capital development.
