According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the deadline for receiving objections/grievances requests regarding the preliminary voter lists has been extended by one week.
Moreover, the requests will be received by the Supervisory Committee for the Shura Council Elections during this period.
The procedure of receiving objections/grievances on preliminary voter lists was scheduled to finish yesterday, but the Ministry extended the deadline due to increased demand from residents to submit objections/grievances requests.
The Supervisory Committee for the Shura Council Elections of MoI decided to continue receiving requests for objections and grievances during the next week and during the same working hours as previously announced, according to a statement published on the Ministry's website.
The Committee added that the requests will be received by the headquarters of the electoral districts during the official holidays as well.
The Committee began receiving grievances/objections in two shifts from August 11, Wednesday, from 8 am to 12 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm.

In the last five days, the Supervisory Committee has received numerous grievances and objections over voter lists, and a number of them have been accepted. Many of the complaints and objections included citizenship conditions and transferring addresses from one election district to another.
Furthermore, the Committee is still accepting objections/grievances and will review the complainants' documents. The Committee will investigate the situation and make a final decision with the help of nine of the committee’s members.
On August 22, the final voter lists will be published. Candidates will be able to register beginning August 22 and continuing until August 26, with the final list of candidates being revealed on September 15.
During the election campaign, the Supervisory Committee for the Shura Council elections advised candidates to promote national unity and societal security.
The maximum amount a candidate can spend on an election campaign is QR 2 million. It is also crucial to avoid misleading voters or defaming others when campaigning for elections.
When practicing the election campaign, the candidate is prohibited from holding a general collective election, except after notifying the security department, including the place and time of the meeting, as well as the names of the speakers, provided that such meetings do not continue after 11 pm.
The Committee said, “It is not permissible for any of the employees in the ministries and other government agencies and public bodies/institutions to carry out any election campaign during their work or their official working hours.”
