In addition to announcing a change in the eligibility criteria for the current vaccine group, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) had just released the quarantine exemption criteria for individuals who have received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to MoPH, fully vaccinated people are now exempt from quarantine requirements following travel abroad and following exposure to a COVID-19 positive case as long as the following conditions are met.

The criteria state that 14 days must pass after receiving the second dose and a negative PCR test is required on return to Qatar following travel or following exposure.

Furthermore, the quarantine exemption is valid for a period of three months, starting 14 days after the second dose.

The exemption may be extended in the future based on the availability of clinical evidence. Also, the exemption does not apply to individuals who have received their vaccinations abroad.

On the other hand, Qatar has been administering the Pfizer-BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine free of cost to individuals under a four-phased vaccination campaign, prioritizing different groups of the country's population.

The MoPH had also announced the approval of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine and falls under the country’s vaccination strategy to enable the vaccination of everyone in the State of Qatar in 2021.
