Qatar’s Ministry of Defence announced the arrival of a new batch of reinforcement troops from Turkey at the Al Udeid Air Base, including elements of the Turkish Joint Forces Command, reported Gulf Times.

The new reinforcement batch will join the Turkish forces currently based at Tariq bin Ziyad battalion, which comes within the joint defence agreement signed between Qatar and Turkey.

The move comes as part of a 2014 defence agreement between Doha and Ankara under which Turkey established a base in Qatar at the request of its government, reported The Daily Sabah.

In April, 2016, the two countries concluded a military deal which would see Turkish troops deployed to a military base in the Gulf state. The first group arrived in Qatar this June and conducted their first drill at Tariq bin Ziyad military base.
