Morocco claimed the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 title with a dramatic 3-2 extra‑time win over Jordan at a rain‑soaked Lusail Stadium, delivering a measure of redemption three years after their World Cup heartbreak on the same soil.

The Atlas Lions struck first in the third minute with a moment of pure genius from Oussama Tannane, who spotted goalkeeper Yazid Abu Laila off his line and launched an audacious shot from the halfway line that sailed in, stunning Jordan and sending the Moroccan fans into raptures.

Jordan needed time to settle, especially after a lengthy early stoppage as Abu Laila received treatment for a head knock against the post, but gradually pushed forward with intent, while Morocco remained the more dangerous side and nearly doubled their lead before the break.

Jordan came out transformed after half-time and levelled in the 47th when Ali Olwan rose to meet a looping cross from Abu Taha, powering in a towering header to make it 1-1.

The momentum swung further their way just after the hour mark as sustained pressure led to a VAR-reviewed handball by El Mahdioui and a penalty in the 64th, which Olwan calmly dispatched to put Jordan 2-1 up and complete a superb comeback.

Morocco looked rattled for a spell but then threw everything forward, hemming Jordan back and forcing the Chivalrous Ones to showcase the defensive resilience that had defined their tournament.

The pressure finally told in the 86th when Hamed Allah headed in on the rebound from a corner; the goal was initially disallowed, but after another VAR check it was awarded, restoring Moroccan joy and sending the final into extra time at 2-2.

Extra time was frenetic and full of jeopardy. Morocco went closest early on, drawing a brilliant reflex save from Abu Laila before continuing to press, and they were rewarded in the 98th when a major defensive lapse from Jordan allowed Hamed Allah to pounce again and fire his second of the night, giving Morocco a 3-2 lead.

Jordan thought they had found another response when the ball was in the net soon after, but their effort was ruled out for handball, adding to the tension and emotion on the Jordanian bench, where some players were already in tears as the clock ticked down.

With three minutes added at the end of extra time, Jordan mounted one last push, but Morocco nearly scored a fourth themselves before ultimately seeing out the final whistle.
