Qatar has always placed great significance on youth empowerment. Not only is the country diversifying the world-class educational opportunities it offers to the youth but also continues to connect young people to job opportunities, locally and globally.

Just last month the country hosted an international youth forum that aimed to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to bring about a positive change in their societies.

Qatar recently marked International Youth Day, which is celebrated across the world on August 12 each year.

The Social Development Centre “Nama” organized several youth-centered training courses, held in cooperation with the Barzan Girls Centre and the Barzan Youth Centre.

The occasion included workshops and training courses that underlined the importance of education, international best practices, and the challenges faced by young people in the field of education.

This adds to Nama’s continuous efforts to provide safe spaces for young people, embrace them, discover their creative abilities, and provide them with the necessary support in different fields.

Acting manager of communication and media office at Nama Centre, Hamad Al Marri, said that in line with this year's theme of the International Youth Day, “Transforming Education” adopted by the United Nations, the Nama Centre is attaching great importance to education and training programs and workshops.

Al Marri highlighted Nama’s achievements in developing the capacities of young people and capitalizing on their abilities.

He noted that Nama has been contributing since 2017 in the empowerment of young people in Qatar through several successful programs to prepare the youth and maintain the development process.

The activities and campaigns organized by Nama include the “Reyada” Award, which focuses on Qatari entrepreneurs of small and micro-enterprises.

The "Sama Nama" program for the development of social entrepreneurs aims to develop the abilities of young people and invest their energies through a variety of activities that have been carefully chosen to suit their needs and motivate them to compete positively.

Moreover, Qatar's Ministry of Culture and Sports, represented by some youth and girls' centers and several cultural committees in sports clubs, also celebrated the International Youth Day, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
