The Committee for School’s Affairs will propose locations and names of news schools, with the location being based on geographical locations and population density.
Moreover, the committee will also name the new schools and give its opinions on selecting its school directors.
This came in a decision issued by the Minister of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) (No. 14 of 2021) to set up Committee for Schools’ Affairs, specifying its power and functions.
The decision was published in the 5th edition of the Official Gazette of Qatar yesterday and was shared by the Ministry of Justice on its website.
The committee will propose necessary plans for the development of specialized and technical education and specialized schools.
In addition to focusing on tasks assigned by MoEHE, the committee will also study the function of schools and their administrative structure and will give its views in this regard.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education will head the committee, while the Assistant Undersecretary for Education Affairs will act as deputy head of the committee.
Director of School Affairs Department, director of Education Guidance Department, director of Human Resources Department, and a representative from Legal Affairs Department will be members of the committee.
The tenure of the committee members will be three years which could be renewed for another tenure or other period similar to it.
Furthermore, the committee will hold meetings once a week upon the call of its head or when required.
The majority of the members of the committee will be present in the meeting including the head and deputy head of the committee to meet the quorum.
The committee will issue its decision and recommendations with the majority votes of the members attending the meeting and in case of a tie, the vote of the head of the committee will decide the issue.
The committee is entitled to set up a subcommittee comprising its members or external experts to study the issues tabled before the committee.
