The number of Indian expatriates in the country has reached an all time high of 691,000 people, according to the Indian Ambassador to Qatar P Kumaran.

The top official, speaking during a function on the occasion of ‘Bharat Utsav - A Journey through Festive Celebrations of India,’ thanked Qatar’s government for the great support extended to the community. 

“We’re the largest expatriate community in Qatar, with the number of Indians reaching 691,000 as of now. The Indian community would like to express our gratitude to the leadership of Qatar for the great patronage given to the country,” he was quoted as saying by Gulf Times.

The envoy also said there would be some high-level participation of leading performers from India to celebrate Qatar-India Year of Culture which will be marked next year.
