Qatar Post held a launch event of the official stamp of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Mascot, La'eeb, on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.

In the midst of the World Cup draw, La'eeb a traditional Qatari 'Ghutra' was revealed as the Official Mascot for the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) signed a deal with Qatar Post and launched the FIFA Classics collection stamps last year.

Previously, it also released an official postage stamp for the tournament which depicted Qatar's map and was emblazoned with the official tournament logo, and included the state-of-the-art stadiums.

The FIFA Classics presents a timeline of the last three World Cups: South Africa (2010), Brazil (2014), and Russia (2018).

FIFA stated previously that the stamps will increase awareness and excitement before and during World Cup 2022, and they will evoke a nostalgic experience for collectors afterward.

Hamad Al Fahida, Chief of Operations at Qatar Post, said: “We gather today to unveil the Official Mascot Stamp and are meeting today in the fourth phase of our journey to document Qatar’s preparations for FIFA World Cup 2022, the first in an Arab country and the last edition to be held in its current form with 32 teams,”

“This mascot is designed innovatively and admired worldwide. There is no doubt that this edition will have a special place for stamp collectors and the Qatari people in particular, as it is inspired by our Qatari culture and our famous Gulf traditional dress,” he added.

Al Fahida emphasized Qatar Post's readiness to enhance cooperation with FIFA and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy as it launched the series, which highlighted the previous three distinct publications.

Khalid Al Mawlawi, Deputy Director-General, Marketing, Communications and Event Experience at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, said that the World Cup 2022 mascot stamps will enhance the experience of fans around the world and enhance the World Cup as well.

“My sincere thanks to Qatar Post for their efforts in delivering this important milestone and promoting the tournament mascot. This is just one of many milestones and there’s many more to come with Qatar Post and other entities,” Al Mawlawi added.
