With Qatar working tirelessly to carry out the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, more than three million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) released an infographic on its Twitter page highlighting that until now a total of 3,008,822 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been given to citizens and residents in Qatar.

As many as 1,665,031 people have taken at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 1,343,791 have gotten both vaccine doses.

According to the vaccination program details available on the MoPH website, at least 72 percent of people above 16 years of age have taken at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 59.4 percent have received both doses.

Among those above 40 years, 90.3 percent have taken at least one dose, while 80.9 percent have gotten both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Within the category of people aged 60 and above, 96.4 percent have taken at least one dose, while 91.1 percent have received both doses.

In the last 24 hours, 19,576 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country.

Qatar's National COVID-19 Vaccination Program has been effective in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 virus as the country was able to enter the second phase of the easing of restrictions on June 18.

Qatar is among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of vaccine coverage per population.

MoPH earlier stated that it is very encouraging that there is clear evidence that the vaccines are protecting people from developing symptoms of COVID and becoming ill.

Data up to the end of April in Qatar showed that just 1 percent of COVID-19 ICU admissions have been for fully vaccinated people and in Qatar, non-vaccinated people of all ages are 91 times more likely to be admitted to ICU with COVID-19 than fully vaccinated people.
