The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has announced that a permit will be required to import vegetables and fruits starting December 1, 2021.

The Ministry made the announcement during an introductory meeting it had organized for the suppliers of fruits and vegetables in Qatar.

Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al Marri, Director of the Food Security Department, Youssef Khaled Al Khulaifi, Director of the Agricultural Affairs Department, and a number of agricultural sector officials and vegetable and fruit suppliers attended the introduction meeting.

The Ministry announced that requests for a permit to import vegetables and fruits (for the month of December 2021) would be received from suppliers, from November 1 to 20, 2021, via e-mail (importrequests@mme.gov.qa) related to receiving applications for a permit to import vegetables and fruits.

The Ministry explained that the application form F-AAD-PP-02 which can be obtained from the Ministry's website and data required to determine items and quantities to be imported during each month could be filled out.

According to the Ministry, this would allow the state to inventory these goods in terms of their quantities and control their quality.
