The Director of the Department of Education and Training Centers at the Ministry of Education (MoEHE), Khalid Ali Al Sadi, explained that private education and training centers resumed smooth operations in adherence to the precautionary measures.

When speaking to Qatar TV, Al-Sadi said that the education centers play a vital role in society by serving students from schools and universities, working people, and those wishing to avail its services.

Al-Sadi explained that the Ministry now has specialist education centers for remedial classes which follow the curricula of government and private schools, and centers for computer courses, languages, and people with disabilities.

Al-Sadi stated, “Following the decision for the gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions on the education sector, the activities of education and training resumed with the capacity of 30 percent.”

Moreover, he pointed out the center for people with disabilities resumed their activities with five students in a hall following COVID-19 preventive measures at this stage.

“The Department dispatched special teams for monitoring the implementation of the measures in education and training centers,” said Al-Sadi.

“Most of the employees of these centers received vaccination and the centers are in compliance with the measures. So far, no cases of infection were detected at the centers,” he added.

To a question about the remedial classes, he said that there is a need for remedial classes since classroom teaching was disrupted in government and public schools due to the pandemic.

The remedial classes are held in education centers that were licensed and monitored by the Department to ensure compliance with the measures.

Following Law No. 18 and the ministerial decision for regulating the operation of private education and training centers, registration is required for opening such centers.

“There is a special page on the website at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for applying to open a new center,” said Al-Sadi, adding that the director of the center should hold the certificate of specialization matching the activity of the education center.

Additionally, the building of the education center should also meet the necessary requirements and specifications.
