The population of Qatar rose by more than 6% at the end of September compared to the previous month, according to latest figures released by the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS) yesterday.

According to MDPS, the country’s population at the end of September was 2,718,000, up from 2,562,000 in August, which is an increase of 156,000 people, reported Gulf Times.

This is the second-highest population numbers the country has seen this year. Earlier, in May, Qatar’s population had reached 2,731,910 people.

There was a huge decrease in the number of people in Qatar between June 1 and August 31 as many people, especially expatriates, left due to the school summer holidays.

The country’s population is likely to keep going up in the next few months provided the usual trend seen between October to December continue this year as well.
