The blockading countries have been trying hard to reduce the flow of tourists to the country, but they have not been successful beyond a point.

Even with the heavy restrictions in place, tourists from Kuwait, Oman and Turkey continued to flow into the country.

Some of them who entered Qatar through the Hamad International Airpirt (HIA) were in for a surprise yesterday when they were given a special reception by the Qatar Tourism Authority, reported Gulf Times.

The conveyor belt, which was supposed to bring their luggages, exhibited a special welcome message to the people. The guests were greeted with Arabic coffee and dates, given special welcome packages and serenaded with the tunes of popular Omani, Kuwaiti and Turkish music, reported Qatar Tribune.

“Eid is about creating and sharing memorable moments with family, neighbours and friends, and we’re delighted to uphold the tradition once again this Eid by welcoming our brothers and sisters from Oman, Kuwait and Turkey at HIA,” said QTA’s Director of PR and communication Saif Al Kuwari.

“We’re particularly excited to have them join us for the fun and joyful season that coincides with the last week of Qatar Summer Festival, which boasts a wide variety of attractive hospitality, entertainment and retail options throughout the country,” he added.
