A Qatar Airways flight, travelling from Doha to Bali, made an emergency landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad yesterday after one of the crew members fell ill, it was reported in Indian media.

The flight — QR 964 — was at a cruising altitude on its journey from Doha to Denspar airport in Bali when the staff fell ill, according to officials at the airport.

The aircraft, which had 240 people on board in addition to crew members, landed safely at Hyderabad and the crew member was taken to a medical centre at the airport, reported Indian news website NDTV.

Meanwhile, Hindustan Times, citing sources inside the airport, said that 34-year-old Romanian pilot Andre Dinu, one of the two pilots of the plane, was the crew member who complained of severe chest pains.

The crew member was first taken to the emergency room at the airport and later to the Apollo Hospital at Jubilee Hills. He is currently in the ICU and his condition is reported to be stable.

Qatar Airways quickly made alternative arrangements for stranded passengers to reach their destination.
