Qatar and Albania have pledged to further strengthen their ties as His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama and his accompanying delegation at the Amiri Diwan yesterday.

The meeting focused on reviewing Qatar-Albania relations and underlining ways to bolster them through cooperation in different fields, reported Gulf Times.

Additionally, the two leaders also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern.

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani along with some other ministers also joined the meeting, according to Qatar Tribune.

HE the PM held official talks with the visiting Albanian premier at the Amiri Diwan.

The two ministers exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues while looking into Qatar-Albania relations and ways to enhance them, particularly in the areas of economy and investment.

HE the PM and his Albanian counterpart witnessed the signing of a maritime transport deal, a letter of intent between the Ministries of Interior of the two countries on cooperation in the field of security, and a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of sport, reported The Peninsula.

A number of ministers and members of the delegation accompanying Rama were present on the occasion.

Moreover, Rama also  met with prominent Qatari businessmen at a meeting between Qatar Chamber officials and members of Albanian trade delegation. The Albanian PM urged Qatari businessmen to invest in various economic sectors of his country.

He said that there is a plethora of investment opportunities to be explored in Albania, particularly in the sectors of tourism, infrastructure, agriculture and energy. 

Rama assured Qatari investors that Albania will take all steps to protect and promote their investments and ensure that they get good returns in the long run, reported Qatar Tribune
