Qatar and seven Arab and Islamic countries condemned Israel’s declared rejection of a roadmap intended to complete the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict, while also denouncing Israel’s rejection of Palestinian statehood.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Qatar, Jordan, UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt called for the immediate and full implementation of the plan, stating that it is essential to address Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, restore security and stability, and begin reconstruction.
The foreign ministers said Israel’s rejection of the roadmap and Palestinian statehood amounts to a repudiation of the broader plan and threatens international efforts to end the war and establish lasting peace.
According to the statement, the roadmap was accepted by Palestinian factions and represents the outcome of mediation efforts involving Qatar, Egypt, Türkiye, USA, the High Representative of Gaza and the Board of Peace.
The roadmap calls for the decommissioning of weapons alongside the withdrawal of Israeli forces, deployment of an International Stabilisation Force, transfer of administrative authority in Gaza to a National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and the reconstruction of the territory.
The eight countries urged Washington to maintain an active role in ensuring that Israel complies with the commitments and arrangements contained in the plan. They warned that continued rejection, obstruction or delays could worsen conditions on the ground and hinder efforts to end the conflict.
The ministers also reaffirmed their support for Palestinian self-determination and a two-state solution. They said a lasting peace requires the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The statement further called on the Board of Peace to take immediate and concrete measures, with US support, to protect the integrity of the comprehensive plan and prevent any party from obstructing its implementation.
The eight foreign ministers said advancing the roadmap and the second phase of Trump’s plan is necessary to create conditions for Gaza’s reconstruction, humanitarian recovery and a broader regional peace.
