The UAE announced on Monday that its national cybersecurity systems detected and successfully blocked a series of advanced, coordinated cyberattacks aimed at critical sectors including aviation, energy and education.
According to the Emirates News Agency, the UAE’s Cybersecurity Council confirmed that the intrusion attempts were addressed proactively and without delay, with threats contained before the attackers could achieve their goals or disrupt the continuity of essential systems and services.
The Council said the attacks employed multiple vectors and techniques, including efforts to breach digital systems and infrastructure, compromise accounts and operational data, and carry out targeted ‘phishing’ campaigns designed to exploit users as an entry point into the targeted environments.
National cybersecurity teams affirmed they had swiftly identified and repelled the attempts, traced the attack paths and associated indicators of compromise, and implemented the required technical measures to neutralise the threats and prevent any spread across networks.
