Qatar and World Bank Explore Cooperation on Transport and Infrastructure Projects

Qatar and the World Bank are exploring opportunities to strengthen cooperation across the transport sector, particularly in infrastructure, public transport projects, freight logistics corridors and public-private partnerships for project financing.

Eng. Abdullah bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Transport, met with a World Bank delegation headed by Almud Weitz, Regional Practice Director for Infrastructure for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The meeting reviewed existing areas of cooperation between Qatar and the World Bank and discussed ways to further develop them across the transport and infrastructure sectors.

Discussions focused on infrastructure development, public transport projects, freight logistics corridors and opportunities to use public-private partnerships to finance projects.

A number of Ministry of Transport officials also participated in a World Bank workshop held at the Ministry's headquarters. The workshop examined areas of cooperation and opportunities to draw on the Bank's expertise in supporting the continued development of Qatar's transport sector.
