Qatar Reiterates Strong Condemnation of Iranian Attacks on Regional Countries

Qatar has reiterated its strong condemnation of what it described as "unjustified" Iranian attacks on several countries in the region, warning that attempts to draw them into existing conflicts risk further escalation and could undermine diplomatic efforts to restore stability.

Speaking during the general debate with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights at the 63rd Human Rights Council in Geneva, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Dr Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah called for an immediate cessation of military actions and attacks.

She stressed the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, returning to diplomacy and dialogue, and adhering to understandings already reached.

On Palestine, Al Muftah condemned continued Israeli settlement activity, attacks on Gaza, forced displacement plans, settler violence and attacks targeting UNRWA. She also reiterated Qatar's call for accountability and a lasting and just peace.

On Syria, she welcomed efforts towards a new phase that guarantees Syrians' rights and called for continued political, economic and humanitarian support. On Sudan, she condemned violations by the Rapid Support Forces in and around El Obeid and called for compliance with international humanitarian law and accountability for those responsible.
