Back-to-back Asian champions Qatar have appointed former Espanyol coach Luis Garcia as their new head coach, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced on Wednesday.

Garcia, who had been assisting Spaniard Tintin Marquez since December 2023, replaced him at the helm.
Garcia’s appointment is a significant step up in the Spaniar’s career, after having coached Spanish clubs Damm, Espanyol, and Internacional FC.
Garcia expressed his gratitude to QFA and Marquez for the opportunity to lead the team.

Garcia will lead Qatar in the upcoming 26th Gulf Cup Championship, which starts on December 21st in Kuwait.
