Qatar has called on all parties of the political crisis in Tunisia to uphold the interests of the Tunisian people.

In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said it is following the developments of the crisis in Tunisia.

Expressing its concern for the Tunisian people, Qatar stated that all parties involved in the crisis must let the voice of wisdom prevail and make efforts to de-escalate tensions.

Qatar underlined the need to “avoid escalation and its repercussions on Tunisia's march and experience, which won respect at the regional and international levels.”

Qatar said it hoped that the Tunisian parties would work to resolve the issue and overcome the crisis through dialogue, “consolidate the foundations of the state of institutions and establish the rule of law in the Republic of Tunisia.”

Qatar’s statement echoes the country’s hope for maintaining stability in Tunisia and taking steps to reach the aspirations of the Tunisian people allowing more progress and prosperity.

Tunisia is currently in the midst of "its biggest political crisis since the 2011 revolution that introduced democracy," Al Jazeera reported.

Earlier on Sunday, President Kais Saied relieved Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi from his role and suspended the Tunisian Parliament.
