The fifth Qatar Camel Festival ‘Jazilat Al-Atta’ 2026 will kick off on Sunday in the Al Mazayen area in Lbuseir and continue until February 10.

The festival is set to attract record participation from across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and is set to become a landmark event in local and Gulf camel competitions.

Over 31 days, participating camels will compete for 119 titles across three categories: 37 rounds for Al Magateer, 44 rounds for Asayel, and 38 rounds for Mujahim.

Sunday’s opening contests will feature three Al Magateer rounds for Al Azbah production in the Shual Safr, Shaqeh Hamar, and Wadh classes, with winners receiving symbolic trophies, vehicles, and cash prizes, including a Tank 500 for first place.

The Al Magateer competitions will run for 10 days until January 21, followed by the Asayel category for 13 days until February 1, and the Mujahim category for 11 days until February 10.

In total, the festival will offer 56 vehicles, 149 symbolic awards, and additional monetary prizes, with 1,090 winners to be honoured. Awards will be presented to the top ten in all rounds except the Khanjar, Shalfa, Bunduq, and Saif rounds, where only the top five will be recognised.

The organising committee has streamlined procedures through the Mzayen app and is providing direct field support to participating camel owners. The Qatar Camel Mazayen Club has mobilised all available resources to present the festival in its most distinguished form and to promote camel competitions as a time-honoured heritage sport.

The festival is held in collaboration with several public and private entities, including the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM), the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Municipality, and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

Seashore Group serves as the logistical sponsor, Al Taysir Automobiles as Gold Sponsor, Alkalive Water and West Walk as Platinum Sponsors, with AlKass Sports Channels as the official broadcaster.

The programme also includes a prize to develop local judging talent and the ‘Jazilat Al-Atta’ Poetry Award, valued at QAR30,000.

The festival aims to preserve camel heritage, encourage participation among owners, strengthen social ties, support tourism and economic activity, and reinforce Qatar’s position as a leading hub for camel festivals and heritage events.
