As Qatar prepares for the start of the 2026–2027 winter camping season on 25 October, relevant authorities are urging citizens and residents planning camping trips and desert outings to carefully select their locations and avoid camps and sites belonging to the Qatari Armed Forces.
The public safety reminder is directed at people visiting wilderness areas for camping and traditional outdoor gatherings, commonly known as 'kashtas', emphasising the importance of keeping away from military facilities and their surrounding areas.
Authorities have stressed that choosing camping locations responsibly and maintaining a safe distance from Qatari Armed Forces sites are important precautions for protecting public security and safety.
Qatar's Winter Camping Season Begins on 25 October
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change previously announced that the 2026–2027 winter camping season will run from 25 October 2026 until 20 April 2027.
The ministry also introduced a phased registration process for camping locations across the country's central, southern and northern regions. Registration for all camping areas is scheduled to reopen from 22 to 31 October through the ministry's online services and the Bee'ah application.
The arrangements are intended to organise access to designated camping areas while promoting responsible use of Qatar's natural environments.
Safety Reminder for Campers and Desert Visitors
With the season approaching, citizens and residents are encouraged to pay attention to their surroundings when choosing locations for tents, recreational gatherings and other desert activities.
The warning specifically calls on visitors to avoid Qatari Armed Forces camps and sites, making the careful selection of camping and outing locations a priority.
Campers should also follow relevant official instructions and ensure that their activities take place in suitable locations, helping to maintain a safe environment for everyone enjoying Qatar's outdoor areas.
Further information about the winter camping season and registration is available through the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change's official camping portal.
