The Years of Culture initiative has unveiled an exciting programme that will bring the vibrant traditions and contemporary creativity of Argentina and Chile to Qatar from September to December 2025.
The four-month season will feature a dynamic mix of art, literature, design, film, music, hospitality, trade, and culinary experiences — all aimed at fostering dialogue, creative exchange, and lasting cultural connections.
In announcing the programme, Years of Culture described the initiative as “a celebration of stories, ideas, and traditions that bring people closer together,” offering spaces where artists, families, and communities can connect, learn, and celebrate what makes each culture unique.
The season will open in September with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra’s Sounds of Qatar and Argentina at the Qatar National Convention Centre, conducted by Argentine maestro Enrique Diemecke. The concert will feature Astor Piazzolla’s celebrated Concerto for Bandoneon "Aconcagua" performed by soloist Victor Hugo Villena, alongside works by Esteban Benzecry, Alberto Ginastera, and Qatari composers Dana Alfardan and Nasser Sahim. Later in the month, the Philharmonic will present Vuelvo al sur at Qatar National Library — a musical journey through Argentina and Chile — while the library’s Make with Me: Argentina Edition will offer family-friendly craft workshops.
October will see Qatar Reads launch its Argentina-focused theme for the year, distributing specially curated Argentina-themed book packages to over 1,500 children, and hosting a Q&A with Argentina’s Ambassador to Qatar. Public art will take centre stage as Chilean muralist Daniel Marceli and Argentine artist Pablo Harymbat transform the tunnels of the Qatar Olympic Cycling Track into an outdoor gallery celebrating Latin American visual narratives. The month will conclude with Cordillera Sonora – Sound of the Mountains, a Philharmonic concert blending traditional Andean music with classical arrangements.
In November, the spotlight will turn to culinary arts with Sabor Argentino and Sabor Chileno, alongside hands-on workshops at Qatar National Library exploring Argentine and Chilean heritage. The Doha Film Festival will highlight emerging filmmakers from both countries, while M7 will host a retail pop-up showcasing Latin American design. Chilean innovators will also participate in the World Innovation Summit for Education, presenting forward-thinking educational models from across the region.
The season will close in December with World Wide Walls Doha, bringing Chilean street artist Posh del Futuro and Argentine muralist Animalitoland to create large-scale murals in Al Aziziyah. Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art will unveil Autorretrato by Argentine artist Gabriel Chaile, while the Doha Film Institute will host Cinema Under the Stars. The Generation Amazing Foundation will also collaborate with Chile’s Club Deportivo Palestino for Football for Development, combining sport, culture, and community engagement.
Through an array of performances, exhibitions, workshops, public art, and culinary experiences, Qatar’s Years of Culture 2025 season reaffirms the nation’s dedication to meaningful cross-cultural dialogue — this year, celebrating the diverse and dynamic worlds of Argentina and Chile.
