In collaboration with The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Qatar Charity distributed 3,400 parcels of relief and health supplies in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region in Pakistan. The number of Afghan refugees that benefited from this aid was 15,000 individuals from refugee camps in Pakistan.

The Commissioner for Afghan Refugees in the region, Mr Abbas Khan, and the Director of Qatar Charity office in Pakistan, Mr Amin Abdul Rahman witnessed the provision of aid. 5,400 people benefited from food aid and personal hygiene items in Khorasan camp in Peshawar province, whereas about 10,000 people benefited in Baraki camp in Swabi Province. The parcels provided to the refugees contained basic food items and personal hygiene items.

Abbas Khan expressed his delight and thanks for the kind services provided by Qatar Charity in these difficult. Almost 1.4 million Afghan refugees have been registered in the Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan, indicating the urgent need intervention for charitable institutions especially in the current situation of COVID-19.

Currently, a total of 54 Afghan refugee camps are in Pakistan. Moreover, the 43 camps situated in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region contain nearly one million people. In cooperation with local authorities, Qatar Charity has taken the initiative to provide assistance to government health institutions in Pakistan by distributing 4000 parcels of hygiene and prevention supplies and materials in quarantine centres and rural health centres in all regions of Pakistan.
