The 23rd issue of Qatar Charity’s “Ghiras” magazine will feature a series of reports, interviews, and articles on humanitarian, charitable and voluntary work. The magazine will be published in both Arabic and English.

The magazine explains that the COVID pandemic has presented the charitable institution with additional challenges, whether in terms of redoubling efforts to mitigate the effects of the pandemic or in terms of the difficulties of moving and the sacrifices by field teams.

However, this did not stop Qatar Charity from providing aid and carrying out their voluntary activities during specific crises like the devastating Beirut explosion that took place.

The magazine features many topics under the title “Sports for Peace and Development, such as a report on the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) including the ‘Sport for Peace and Development in Darfur’ initiative, which was launched by the Qatar Fund Development (QFFD).

Moreover, it covers a report on the formation of the displaced people team in addition to a statement of Mr. Massimiliano Montanari, CEO of the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS).

The latest edition of the magazine will feature Khaled Khalifa, UNHCR Regional Representative to the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), as he expresses his pride in the UNHCR’s partnership with Qatar Charity. He also touched on the impact of the pandemic on their humanitarian activities, as well as other topics of concern.

An interview in the magazine showcases Khalifa bin Jassem Al-Kuwari, Director General of QFFD, who highlighted the efforts made by QFFD globally, its position among international donors, its role in supporting Qatari humanitarian and charitable organizations, and prospects for developing its partnership with Qatar Charity.

The current issue of the magazine also contains many articles such as ‘Creative Volunteering: The Value-Added Humanitarian Action’ and ‘The need for good governance in the charitable sector’.

Lastly, ‘Um Fatima: The miserable life of the displaced’ and ‘Ann Cotton educates millions of girls within Africa’ are available in the magazine, a must-read for this year’s issue. Moreover, ‘Coronavirus: a shock of isolation and uncertainty for children’ and ‘Infected with COVID-19’ and ‘Dr. Mustafa sets an example in humanitarian action’ are interesting reading materials in this year’s magazine.
