Mutaz Barshim stuns home crowd by winning a gold medal at the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Athletics Championships.
The local hero delivered a spectacular performance with a world lead jump of 2.37m and got the loudest reception of the championship. His fans filled the Khalifa International Stadium was with his posters on Friday.

“He (the Amir) was very excited, very happy. I went to see him after the end of the competition, and he said ‘Well done, I have no words to say. You did everything, more than I expected’. He is really happy, he’s proud and I am proud too”, says Barshim.
