Qatar Diamond Exchange has signed Memoranda of Understanding with the Diamond Exchange of Singapore, the Shanghai Diamond Exchange and the Tokyo Diamond Exchange during the 41st World Diamond Congress in Singapore.
QDE said the agreements form part of its strategy to develop closer ties with established diamond markets across Asia and create new opportunities for trade and cooperation between Qatar and the region.
The agreements were signed by Ghanim Nasser Al Saadi, Director of Qatar Diamond Exchange, alongside Fabio Cascapera, President of the Diamond Exchange of Singapore; Lin Qiang, President of the Shanghai Diamond Exchange; and Michio Iwasaki, President of the Tokyo Diamond Exchange.
The MoUs establish frameworks to strengthen business connections between members of the respective exchanges, encourage commercial relationships and mutual introductions, and explore broader areas of cooperation.
They will also support bilateral visits and reciprocal participation in industry events, tenders, auctions, viewings and other activities organised or hosted by the exchanges.
The partnerships aim to strengthen consumer confidence in natural diamonds and precious stones while encouraging adherence to recognised industry standards and initiatives, including the World Diamond Council’s System of Warranties and initiatives led by the Responsible Jewellery Council.
Al Saadi said the partnerships represent a concrete step in expanding QDE’s engagement across Asia by creating direct links between its members and exchanges in Singapore, Shanghai and Tokyo.
He added that the agreements open new channels for trade, investment and industry collaboration while reinforcing Doha’s potential to serve as a trusted gateway connecting Asian diamond markets with wider international trade.
Fabio Cascapera said the agreement would create opportunities for members to build relationships, exchange knowledge and explore new business while supporting confidence in natural diamonds.
Lin Qiang said the partnership would bring the QDE and Shanghai markets closer, facilitate commercial engagement and create new opportunities for mutual benefit.
Michio Iwasaki highlighted the importance of trust, transparency and confidence in the diamond trade, saying the partnership would strengthen ties between members and support the integrity of the industry.
Qatar Diamond Exchange was launched in July 2026 and is based at Ras Bufontas Free Zone. It provides an integrated and regulated platform for diamond trading and related industry services.
The exchange connects Doha with international diamond markets while supporting the growth of Qatar’s diamond and precious stones sector and the country’s economic diversification ambitions under Qatar National Vision 2030.
