Qatar have been drawn alongside heavyweights Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Yemen in Group A for the Gulf Cup Under-20 Saudi Arabia 2025 Championship. The draw ceremony was held in Doha on Monday.
Group B will include Oman, Bahrain, Iraq and Egypt, who replaced the UAE after they declined to participate. The championship will be played across venues in Abha, a city known for its cool mountain climate and growing football fan base, from August 28 to September 9.
Qatar’s young squad will look to prove their mettle with several standout performers coming off strong campaigns in the domestic youth league.
The eight-nation youth tournament is the first to be held under the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation.
Egypt, who are gearing up for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile (September 27 to October 19), will use the tournament as a crucial preparatory event.
