The inaugural edition of the Qatar Economic Forum, held in cooperation with Bloomberg, is all set to go underway today.

Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the three-day forum will take place virtually.

HH the Amir will deliver a speech at the forum’s opening session today.

Several global leaders and several dignitaries will take part in the event including Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo; UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson; Rwanda President Paul Kagame; South African President Cyril Ramaphosa; Senegalese President Macky Sall and Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, in addition to over 100 speakers from different countries.

A delegation of more than 2,000 participants will join the event virtually including global leaders, experts in the domains of finance, economics, investment, technology, energy, education, sports and climate.

The forum will work as a platform for the participants to identify opportunities, come up with solutions and reimagine the global economic landscape through the lens of the Middle East.

The agenda of the forum will cover six main pillars including: Technology Advanced; A Sustainable World; Markets and Investing; Power and Trade Flows; The Changing Consumer; and A More Inclusive World.

One of the goals of the forum is to devise plans to facilitate the growth of the global economy in the post-pandemic phase and recognize Qatar’s strategic location, which is one of the most significant points of connection between the East, the West and Africa regions to discuss international cooperation to work on economic opportunities.

The forum will also underline Qatar's efforts to lead economic growth, achieve comprehensive development goals, and cement its leading position as one of the most important investment destinations in the region and around the globe.

The forum coincides with the success of the Qatari economy as it reaches the recovery stage more than a year after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The forum constitutes good evidence of Qatar's efforts during the period of global economic recovery, as well as its keenness to exclusively be one of the initiators and first seekers of moving the international power and mobilizing its energies, to confront the pandemic and pave the way to redirect the global economy to its previous tracks, successes and usual rates.

Among several other topics that will be discussed during the forum are: renewable energy, virtual money and the transition to a new energy economy, electric digital mobility, industry and society's readiness for the new mobility revolution, green recovery and the future of the planet and humans, in addition to the digital future of sports, the role of the Internet with future health emergencies, millennial consumers as the largest purchasing power in the world today, real estate and the virtual world, and the economics of the environment and public health.
