Education has remained a top priority for Qatar for years. This is reflected in the numerous initiatives the country has taken to promote education at all levels, regionally and internationally.

Under this educational focus, Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education has organized the Fourth Annual International Education Conference in Doha, which gathers more than 1,000 delegates from 25 different countries.

Hailed as one of the nation’s biggest educational events of the year, the conference offers educators and administrators a scientific platform to share local, regional and international experiences in the educational field, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).

The conference, themed ‘Education Makes a Difference,’ was officially inaugurated yesterday by His Excellency the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries including ministers and other guests.

Addressing the conference, HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Mohamed Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi underlined that Qatar had achieved advanced rankings in scientific education in the Arab region and the world.

He recognized the continuous support of the wise leadership and guidance from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the efforts of the students and those working in the field of education.

The Ministry of Education is committed to make a real difference in the educational process, Al Hammadi explained, stressing that it has achieved a qualitative leap in this regard with the formation of the curricula and was able to implement them at the beginning of this year in a timely manner.

Education in Qatar is being enriched rapidly with scientific research, internal and external debates, local and international scientific competitions, in addition to continuous participation in seminars that are beneficial to the educational process inside and outside Qatar.

Today’s universal language is technology, the Minister noted, highlighting that Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Education, has ensured it keeps up with technological advancements.

Students receive the attention they need by means of specialized schools and higher education institutes that help them compete in technology, engineering and math industry.

HE Mohamed Al Hammadi said the ministry was keen that the topics discussed at the conference by experts, researchers and educators would focus on facing the challenges of the current phase.

The minister further mentioned that while the conference will delve into local and global trends in education, it will also look at quality management in education. This is an area that he said must be sought in order to achieve education efficiency, which mirrors the Ministry’s vision to provide innovative learning opportunities for the Qatari community.

Earlier during the opening session, a documentary film about the educational process and the educational system and its development in Qatar was shown.

After the opening, HE Sheikh Abdullah toured the pavilions of the students’ research exhibition accompanying the conference.

The conference will see at least 150 interactive sessions, workshops and seminars, some of which will be dedicated to parents on best educational practices.
