Qatar today celebrates National Sports Day (NSD) amid preventive and precautionary measures against COVID-19 to ensure the safety of all.

This year's Sports Day will be comparatively different than the previous editions in light of the ongoing pandemic.

All sports activities on NSD 2021 will be individual only such as running, swimming, and cycling, according to the NSD organizing committee.

Any sports that may require physical contact, including ball matches, are not allowed.

Sports that involve the participation of many teams in a limited space are not permitted.

The public must avoid gathering in places of sports activities and avoid crowding.

All sports activities must take place in outdoor places, while indoor sports are prohibited.

Schools and clubs are also not allowed to hold any sporting events this NSD.

Everyone who participates in sports activities on the occasion has been urged to adhere to the preventive measures, including wearing masks, except for the time of practicing sports activity.

On the occasion of NSD, the country's Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has stressed the importance of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle. Among some of the tips, the Ministry has shared are:

- jump rope or follow an exercise video

- use the stairs, climb up fast and recover on the way down

- download a strength workout app such as The 7-Minute Workout that requires no additional equipment. Aim for at least 30 minutes a day. You could divide this into two sessions of 15-20 minutes each.

- Make use of the growing network of bike tracks in Qatar
