Qatar Museums Announces September Programme of Talks, Workshops and Family Activities

Qatar Museums has announced its September 2026 public programme, bringing together workshops, talks, storytelling sessions, creative courses and family activities across its museums and creative hubs.

The month-long programme covers art, design, photography, calligraphy, heritage, literature and creative learning, with activities designed for children, young people, adults, families and educators.

As part of Qatar Museums' Fall/Winter season, Qatar Creates Talks will continue throughout September in collaboration with Fire Station, Tasweer Photo Festival Qatar, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Lusail Museum, VCUarts Qatar and Georgetown University in Qatar.

The talks begin on September 1 at Fire Station Auditorium with a panel exploring how creative development programmes influence cultural practice in Qatar. On September 6, Al Hosh Gallery will host an exhibition tour and discussion focusing on photography education and the ways photographic practice engages with personal experiences, cultural narratives and contemporary issues.

Mathaf will host two Fanoon Artist Talks during the month. Rayyane Tabet will introduce audiences to his research-led artistic practice on September 8, while Bahar Noorizadeh will feature in the series on September 29. Georgetown University in Qatar will host a September 28 conversation exploring late 19th-century Egyptian musical traditions preserved through early 20th-century recordings and revived by Oxford Maqam.

Mathaf's wider September programme includes regular art lessons with Ismail Azzam for adults, running every Sunday and Tuesday from September 2, alongside an Essa Fakhroo Arabic calligraphy course from September 7 to 10. Two creative sessions, "Realms of Rhythm" and "Unedited", are also scheduled for September 12.

At M7, visitors can explore the 15th Arabian Women Exhibition until September 5, showcasing regional creative talent across contemporary design, traditional craftsmanship and modern enterprise.

The Museum of Islamic Art will offer activities covering calligraphy, art, science, literature and family learning. These include "Story Time: Al Khawarizmi" on September 5, a Nasta'liq calligraphy programme from September 6 to 9, and "Family Day: Junior Curator" on September 12, which requires no registration. A book club discussion on Jean Soustiel's publication about the Shah-e Zende and Central Asian architectural ceramics will take place on September 28.

Liwan Design Studios and Labs will run a series of hands-on creative workshops. "Trace Through Pattern" on September 6 and 7 introduces laser cutting and digital fabrication, while "Scratched Surfaces" on September 9 explores porcelain scratching techniques. "Traditional Miniature Painting: A Qatari Perspective" follows on September 10 and 11, with "Silver Soups - Alternative Image-Making" taking place on September 15 and 16.

Qatar Auto Museum will hold teacher training workshops on September 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30. The sessions combine guided walkthroughs of the museum's sneak peek exhibition with practical training on incorporating automotive history and technology into classroom learning.

At the National Museum of Qatar, the Mahara Programme will offer a perfume-making workshop for women aged 18 and above from September 14 to 16. Teen Hub's "Experiment Programme - Stage C" will take place on September 26, while participants from the Ehsaan Center will join a bookbinding workshop from September 27 to 30.

The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum will also present storytelling sessions for younger audiences. "One, Two, Follow Through" is scheduled for children aged six to 10 on September 25, followed by "Giraffes Don't Golf" for children aged two to five on September 27.
