The Qatar Cultural Center for the Blind, affiliated to the Ministry of Culture, organized a workshop in human development entitled "Building Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem", with the aim of enhancing awareness of the importance of self-confidence and self-esteem, and introducing practical methods that help develop personal abilities and face life and professional challenges.
The workshop was presented by trainer Jawaher Al-Rumaihi, which dealt with the concept of self-confidence as an individual's belief in his abilities and potentials, and his confidence in his ability to achieve his goals and overcome difficulties, in addition to the concept of self-esteem, which is represented in the individual's self-esteem, realizing his personal worth and accepting his potential.
The workshop highlighted the importance of self-confidence and self-esteem in promoting mental health, improving performance and achieving success, and reducing the impact of psychological stress, as well as their role in building positive social relationships based on effective communication and mutual respect.
Al-Rumaihi reviewed the most prominent challenges that may affect an individual's self-confidence, including fear of failure, excessive self-criticism, comparison with others, and past negative experiences, stressing the importance of being aware of these challenges and working to overcome them in positive ways.
She also touched on the religious foundations that promote self-confidence and support self-esteem in the light of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet, in addition to reviewing the opinions of psychologists on the importance of self-confidence and its implications on mental health and human behavior.
The trainer presented a set of practical strategies to enhance self-confidence, most notably identifying the strengths and aspects that need to be developed, self-acceptance, getting rid of negative thoughts, setting realistic achievable goals, and adopting positive phrases that support a balanced view of self.
On the professional side, the workshop emphasized the importance of self-confidence in improving performance and productivity, enhancing leadership and communication skills, and increasing opportunities for development and career advancement.
This workshop comes within the framework of the keenness of the Qatar Cultural Center for the Blind, affiliated to the Ministry of Culture, to organize cultural, awareness, and developmental programs and activities that contribute to the development of the personal and social skills of its members, and enhance their abilities in order to support their active participation in society.
