In light of the rising cases of Covid-19, the Qatar National Library (QNL) has decided that only vaccinated visitors are allowed and visitors have to book appointments to visit, starting today.
Visitors can book their visits on https://registration.qnl.qa/booking-service#no-back to book an appointment. Entry is allowed into the premises provided:
- Visitors have a confirmation of their slot booking through the website.
- Visitors are fully vaccinated and have a green status on EHTERAZ App.
- Visitors must wear a face mask at all times.
The QNL’s official website gives further clarification about what is the scope of the booked visit by each visitor. The slots available for booking are from 10 am–12.30 pm and 1–4 pm. The library is open on six days of the week and will be closed on Fridays.
Bookshelves are open for the general public and visitors can browse through the whole library and make use of the self-checkout stations. The reading carrels are available for a single user per carrel on a first-come-first-use basis.
The Children’s Library is also closed until a further update. However, visiting adults are allowed to borrow books for their children directly from the Children’s Library during their visit. Public group tours have also been stopped.
Academic and professional researchers are supposed to submit a form for scheduling a virtual research consultation and wait for a subject specialist librarian to contact them.
Those wishing to book an innovation room do not have to apply for a library entry slot, instead can just book a room at this link.
Heritage Library materials are available by emailing heritagelibrary@qnl.qa for a digital copy, based on availability. The Heritage Reading room/area is available on a case-by-case basis for selected heritage and reference materials.
It is important to note that each booking is for one person only.
All these changes are effective today, January 6, 2022, until further notice.
