Reflecting the strength of the relationship shared between the two brotherly countries, Qatar took part in the opening ceremony of the judicial year of Turkish courts held in Ankara yesterday.

The ceremony was held at the presidential palace complex in the presence of Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

His Excellency the Chairman of Qatar's Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC) and President of the Court of Cassation Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr Al Mohannadi represented the State of Qatar at the ceremony.

Several top Turkish officials, including Turkish Grand National Assembly Speaker Mustafa Sentop, Council of State president Zerrin Gungr, Constitutional Court president Zuhtu Arslan, Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gul, and politicians, presidents of Turkish courts and tribunals, as well as representatives of different friendly countries joined the important occasion.

The presence of Dr Al Mohannadi comes in the framework of the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields, including the judicial field.

Earlier this year, a delegation from the training center for public prosecutors at the Turkish Ministry of Justice paid a five-day official visit to Doha, during which they held several meetings with officials of the Courts of Appeal and Discrimination.

The delegation engaged in discussions on academic activities and the work system in the field of the judiciary in Qatar. They also explored ways of exchanging expertise, particularly in the areas of training and the use of technology in justice management systems.

Qatar and Turkey relations have grown stronger since 2014 following the signing of the establishment of a High Strategic Committee between the two countries to enhance bilateral cooperation across many fields.
