Following the success of last year’s first-ever International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) on 6 April, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is once again gearing up to celebrate the power of sport and highlight how it can help build a better world.
Qatar has always taken a great part in the sports community on a world scale, from hosting the hand ball cup to its highly anticipated FIFA world cup. It comes as no surprise to announce its plans to hold the 2nd IDSDP on the 4th of April, in the spirit of global cooperation and for the better integration of sports as method to bring together a well nit community.
Organizer Abdulrahman AbuGhanima said, "After sitting with Willi Lemke, UN Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace, I came to realize the importance this day holds and what it helps to achieve." He added, "My team is working day and night to make sure that we stay true to the vision of the day as well as be able to provide an event that everyone can take part in."
The IDSDP will include a number of activities for both families and individuals such as:
-National and International Speakers
-Family Activities
-Football tournament
